I\’ve been having lots of problems getting my lee loadmaster tuned back up after a breakdown and clean. Plenty of jams and FTF and stove pipes from what I\’m rolling up. I\’m using the latest Speer manual for loads and OAL information. It\’s showing a OAL of 1.135. I\’ve had a few people tell me that just looks too long. Anyone have a OAL for the 9mm 115gr full metal jacket round nose bullets?

Stan Evans.Stan, I suggest using the barrel, in which you intend to shoot these loads, as a case gauge. I load 124gr Nukes at 1.15 for my G19. I have to load the same projectile at 1.06 for my CZ P01. My CZ Shadow 2 falls somewhere in the middle.

DaveCZ PO1 and Shadow 2. I am envious! I finally managed to get the loaded cases to almost go flush in the case gunge and did a plink test, and they seemed to feed in and slide out ok. With my reloading skills still developing, I don\’t feel up to reloading personal defense rounds yet and that is what I want to be doing. For now, with the 115 RN from RMR, I\’m just going to stick with plinking ammo until I get that down to 100% reliability and work on some different weights and loads. Then get some of those nukes. I\’ve heard nothing but good about them! Thanks for the advice David.

Stan, when hand loading, patience is a virtue. You\’ll get it figured out. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts. Just follow your published data and be fine.

DaveIn case your still interested, I\’ve been reloading RMR-FMJ\’s at a OAL of 1.10\’ and it functions in several pistols; HK VP9, Sigs 226, 229, 225, 938 and 1911\’s with reasonable accuracy. Hope this helps. David J.
I tried some at that for my Wifes G3c. Instant jam-o-matic. I had nothing but problems with my Max 9 and Ruger 95DC. I also just found a major problem from when I put my press together. The ram was rubbing up against the side of the shelf. Partly my fault and partly a design flaw. A friend of mine came over while I was sick and rebuilt that part of the bench so it\’s got lots of room now. I hope that resolves a lot of the issues I\’ve been having. Hydrocodone is my friend but I don\’t him to meet my press. Thanks for the help guys.
When reloading a new to me bullet I\’ll find a similar bullet in my manual(s) and start a dummy at the book OAL. Make sure there is no flare left on the case and plunk test it. If necessary shorten the OAL .005\” and repeat plunk test.
I have had more problems with case gauges than I care to list, so, I shoot my handloads out of my gun\’s barrel and not a gauge, so I size my handloads to my guns. Works for me for 25+ years…
I\’ve been loading this bullet to 1.135 with absolutely no problems , UNTIL the day my daughter brought her new Springer EMP home . With factory ammo , no problems , with my reloaded ammo its as you described , a\” jam-o-matic\” . I figured out it is a tight chamber , so I bought a Lee undersized pistol die and a 9mm case guage . Now all my reloaded 9mm is sized with the undersize die and checked with the case guage . If the case guages correctly and falls out on its own when I turn it over , it will function flawlessly in her gun . If it is a little \”fat\” and wont fall out of the guage correctly , then it gets fired in any of our other 9\’s . When you use once fired brass you have to take the good with the bad , and what I think is happening is some of the cases are fired from large chambers like Glocks . I would say that about 5 to 10 % of my cases wont resize and guage small enough for her gun ,so these boxes are marked \”NO EMP\”. It is kind of a pain but really not that big of a deal , besides that little 3\” EMP is really a tackdriver and I wish I would have bought one.
