Hi all,
Will RMR\’s .45 230 GR. FULL METAL JACKET ROUND work in a 460 S&W cartridge? I just want to make sure it can withstand 460 S&W\’s pressure and velocities.

RMRs full metal jacket will withstand the pressures, but the bullet size is smaller than what is recommended for .460. A .45 ACP uses bullets that are .451 jacketed, and .452 cast bullets. A .460 uses a .452 bullet. Get a good reloading manual to help you out.

As Arley has stated, they may be a bit undersized. For what it\’s worth, my opinion is there are too many properly sized and heavily jacketed 454/460 designed bullets for you (us) to fool with .45 ACP projectiles at magnum velocities. Loading at such velocities will likely at the very least make getting a good bite (crimp) without bullet deformation to hold the thinner skinned slick sided ACP projectile in place more trouble than it\’s worth. A Lee Factory Crimp die can only do so much.
That\’s not to say that I may not tinker around with some of these in .45 Colt brass at standard .45 Colt velocities. They may shoot great and be a lot less of a headache to keep at desired length.
HS6/Accurate #5 or CFE Pistol/Win Auto Comp will likely get the load density up to reasonable levels and deliver enough \”Umph\” to allow you to know you\’ve fired one off.
Please post your results if you decide to pursue using these.
