RMR has never made plated bullets. We used to contract to have them made for us, but as was mentioned earlier the prices got to be too high and there was no longer a way for us to make any money with them. In most every way our FMJ are superior to the plated and the price is now better too. We could actually do plating now if only we had the building for it. Industrial space in Idaho is outrageous right now and not worth the investment.
It\’s very likely that your OAL is too long for it to want to case gauge in the Wilson gauge. I can\’t remember if that gauge has a step to represent leade/throat?
That is a pretty classic no powder description. The good news is that you avoided the double powder issue.
I would say a huge percentage of the customers who buy the nukes are buying them to shoot in .38 super open division.
Well, if only it were as simple as just thinking about it. I really wish it was something that was easy to do but the machinery required to do it isn\’t cheap, small, or fast. Basically, if you have the money and the machinery to make that bullet you wouldn\’t waste it on making a cheap bullet. You would be forced to make a higher BC bullet that you can sell for more money. It sucks, but you\’re looking at like $600k -$1million to do it right and I can buy several pistol machines for that kind of money.
We are working on a machine conversion to do a 135. It may be possible to do a 147 but we aren\’t sure we can draw the jacket long enough in that machine.
Yeah, this is often caused by a bulged casing near the rim. It happens when someone shoots a hot load through an unsupported chamber. Usually you can fix it by making sure your sizing die has a little cam over but sometimes that isn\’t enough. A bulge buster will fix it but it adds another step.
