Does anyone have a OAL recommendation for the 9mm 124g MPR bullet?

I’m loading for a Glock 17 and 19 and find at 1.125” OAL the cartridge will not pass the kerplunk test in a factory barrel. Drops fully into my Dillon case gage though.

1.125\” is long for a JHP….

I\’m running the 124gr. MPR at 1.075\” That OAL works in all my 9mm guns, regardless of brand. The flat nose requires you to shorten it up a little bit.

I settled at 1.080 OAL for my initial test loads. This appears to give me about .012 of clearance in my gen 4 Glock barrels.

I’m going to test a few different powder charges and then revisit the length setting before a run any volume or these.

I am at 1.115. Works fine in VP9, CZ75.

Just remember, if you go lower than recipe recommends, stay away from max loading as you get more pressure for same powder charge with less space in case.

Hum interesting. I’m loaded from Nosler data and load them at 1.120. I just checked one of my Glock 19 barrels and you are correct they fail. However I shoot them from a Glock 19 with a SilencerCo threaded barrel and an Omega 9K can and they pass in that barrel.

I had to load them at 1.075 to pass plunk test to run them through my CZ SPO1 tactical.

1.065” OAL in order to plunk in my Glock 17 Gen 5 barrel. Other 9mm firearms will take longer OALs including other Glocks.

4.2gr Win 231 / HP-38 Avg FPS 1090 SD 5.6 for my all around range rounds.

4.6gr Win 231 / HP-38 Avg FPS 1162 SD 13.2 to get reliable expansion.

With 1.060\” OAL, I could pass the plunk test in my Glock 17/19 Gen 4 barrels, but had to go down to 1.048\” in order to pass in my Glock 48.

I use 5.1 gr CFE Pistol for a good range load, mixed brass with a WSP primer.

I have ran them all of the way up to 5.5gr @ 1200 fps out of my Glock 17, but that was a very hot load and would not recommend going that high, it was definitely the upper bounds with a seating depth of 1.048\”.

The 124 gr JHP MPR has become my go to bullet for all my 9mm loads. I use Hodgdon CFE Pistol exclusively and found that 4.9 gr works best, for me. COL is determined by the plunk and spin test for all 4 barrels and final length is determined by subtracting .010 from where the bullet contacts the lands. . I have 3 CZz and one Staccato. COL ranges from 1.046 to 1.115. 1.046 COL for the Shadow2, 1.077 for the PCR and TSO, and 1.115 for the Staccato. I\’m not so sure I\’m gaining any accuracy by customizing the COL. I didn\’t bother using a chronograph because all loads were well below the max recommended by Hodgdon.
