Alex, I’m posting the below two trials in-line on your Alliant Sport Pistol thread. Slightly lighter loads by a gradient of 0.1gr and 0.2 gr.

*Although load variables are slightly different; and your CZ at 4.6″ probably has a much tighter chamber/shorter throat than my Beretta 4.9″ loose chamber/very long throat, it’s interesting to see the results compared. Fairly predictable velocity as pressures ramp to published max.

    *Yours at 4.4gr/1.100″ — 1091 fps
    Mine: 4.3gr / 1.110″ — 1032 fps
    and 4.2gr / 1.110″ — 993 fps

Observations: 4.2gr felt good but unsurprisingly, the ramp to 4.3 felt only slightly snappier but benefited by notably improved SD/ES, and slightly improved groups–a pattern I’ve seen before with Alliant SP. (general forum precaution note: Alliant’s published data shows 4.4gr max / generic 124 JHP @ 1.120″)

    Bullet Weight (gr): 124.000

Something wrong with those numbers in the first post. Average velocity appears to be higher than the maximum velocity.

I’ve been loading 5.0 g of WSF at 1.106 OAL for IDPA. Shot a Tier 4 match recently and they chronographed at almost 1100 fps. Needless to say I’m going to try backing off a bit to help with recoil management.
