ParticipantWhat do you guys use or does anyone use to expand the mouth(flare) so that non-BT bullets are easier to fit while loading them? I am having a heck of a time trying to get the 55gr SP bullets to stay in the case while seating them. What I am having to do right now is hold the bullet by hand while seating the bullet, if I don’t hold them 50% of the time they fall out.

ParticipantI put a good chamfer on the inside of the mouth with a deburring tool.
My seating die is a Redding Match, and I don’t see any issues. Just set the bullet on top of the mouth and guide it into the die on the way up.

ParticipantThank you, I’ll check that Lyman die out! That’s what I’m doing right now but it takes a lot of chamfering plus holding each one in as it goes up sure slows things down.

ParticipantI had a similar problem loading 300 blackout – was actually slightly crushing the necks and causing issues when plunking in the barrel. Took me forever to figure out. Grabbed a Lyman M die and just ever so slightly belled the case mouth to just allow it to sit nicely on the case. Biggest issue is to make sure you use a crimp die after seating to push that bell back in, or it won’t chamber correctly.
