I’ve been running the 44.5gr 2nds through my .30 Hatsan Blitz BP and they’re definitely hitting hard, but they’re just punching clean through plywood without expanding. I sectioned a few and noticed the hollow point goes pretty deep, probably deeper than it needs to for the velocities I’m shooting at.

I think a version with about half as deep of a hollow point would leave more weight behind the tip, help keep the slug stable, and still give it enough of a cavity to open up. Right now there’s so little material in the nose that it’s just flattening instead of blooming.

I’d also love to see a cross cut on the tip, just an 1/8″ or so, to encourage petaling on impact. That’d help get reliable expansion even on soft targets without having to hit bone to force it.

Anyone else seen similar behavior with the deeper HPs in PCPs like the Blitz? Curious if anyone’s tried this kind of mod or if the maker’s experimented with alternate versions.
