ParticipantSince my favorite Speer 135 gr. Short Barrel JHP bullets are nearly impossible to find, The 9mm 135 gr. Nukes seem to be an alternative.
If I reload them in 357 Magnum brass, will the difference in diameter of .002 in. cause any problems? Would it be best to use a 9mm taper crimp die? Will accuracy be affected? And more importantly, has anyone tried the combination?
I’ve read that lead load data can be used for plated bullets, but there is very little data available for 135 lead bullets.
I dislike trying to extrapolate velocity from data obtained with unrealistic barrel lengths.June 21, 2025 at 8:08 pm #534398Eric
ParticipantI have loaded the 124’s in 38 &357 using a lee undersizing die on the brass to achieve adequate tension on the bullet. I used published 125 fmj data with good success. Accuracy was better than me and I saw a minimal change in velocity. If I were you I would go with published 158 fmj data and slowly work up. Good luck!
