I’m running the 124 nukes with 5.5 Be-86 at 1.100 OAL. Going to chrono today. Short barrel , should get around 1100 to 1150 FPS.

You probably have all this figured out by now but here’s my thoughts. Remove the barrel first. To check the correct OAL any gun needs I use a Dremel to make a slice about 3/4 down the side of the case in question, remove any burs and insert a bullet and push it into the chamber. when the case gets even with the barrel hood the bullet is seated at the rifling. Carefully remove the cartridge and measure the OAL. Do this a few times to get consistent measurements and then seat your bullets a little shorter. It should produce a perfect plunk test.

I talked to the guy at RMR and told him I had jacket seperation with the 115 gr Nukes in water jugs. He stated that won’t happen in gel.

I size and slit a case so a bullet will slide into the brass and then push it into the barrel all the way and gently push it out from the muzzel end with a pencil. Measure and thats your max OAL. Shorten it up .015 and you should have a good Plunk test on that barrel.

Same happened to me but it was the OAL that got me. The round was loaded to long and got stuck in the lands and when I cleared the chamber it pulled the bullet. I thought the same as you but I had unburned powder inside my slide. Dead trigger no primer pop.

The bullets are chubby so size a case , slit it with a dremmel cut off wheel and insert a bullet into the brass and push it into your chamber. Push it hard so the rim is up against the barrel hood and then take a pencil and push it out gently from the muzzel end. Measure the OAL and you have your max OAL before it hits the rifling. In my barrel ( short chamber ) it measures 1.070, so I set my OAL to 1.050.

I have been reloading the 115gr & 124 Nukes. The bullets are chubby so have to load short to chamber in my old S&W 469. Do a plunk test on the gun to check the OAL.

I have a channel on YouTube. Go there and look up this link. https://youtu.be/RTEZtsDO4a8?si=8qq7I8Fsu-n8CyZs
My method has been working well for almost 10 yrs with the same strainer.
