17 Hornet ParticipantI shoot the RMR 69 bthp mostly out of 18″ 1:8 upper, 24.24 grains imr 4046 at col of 2.255.
I also have a heavy barrel bolt gun I use with a couple higher priced bullets . I decided to load up some rmr 69s, 23.5 grains imr 4064 with a little longer col of 2.315 to use as fowlers and they shot amazingly well, my 1st 3 shots had a spread of .292″, the 4th was off so stretched that group to .568…thats pretty decent for a bullet which cost 15 cents17 Hornet ParticipantI also have some extra 4064 but couldnt find data for lighter bullets, so For around 15cents a bullet I bought 1000 RMR 69 hps. Loaded them with 24.24 grains 4064, 2.255 col. They shoot good outa 18″ 1:8 upper 17 Hornet ParticipantCant help with any AR comp data, most accurate load so far fo me is 24.2 varget at 2.255 coal out of a 20″ barrel.
Wish they could get that dang sawdust out of hollow point, I think this is a pretty good overall bullet though. I ussually do .1 grn increments and watch the groups open and close, not alot you can do with length in an AR….good luck17 Hornet ParticipantNew to forums. I’m moving on from a .223 Savage bolt LRPV to the AR15 platform which I am trying something new.
I used 22.8 gns of Varget in that bolt gun, 80gn Noslers, coal of 2.455 and it shot very well. Since the 80s are so long I’m going to the 69 grn in my ARs 1:8 20″ barrel, but at a cartridge overall length of 2.26 I start getting a compressed load at 24.4 grains.
So my question to anyone is: what do you think of compressing loads?17 Hornet ParticipantFirst time on forum. I have decided I pushed my 223 Savage LRPV accuracy as far as I can without modifications and decided to learn something new so traded that gun for an ar15 556 upper build , all new to me.
So I’m curious as to what your shooting those 69s in?
