Here are the loads I tested with RMR’s 124 gr JHP, seated to an OAL of 1.060″:
4.5 gr Winchester 244
4.6 gr HP-38
7.8 gr Accurate No. 7
5.5 gr CFE Pistol
I tested with a Grand Power Stribog w/ Primary Arms MD-20 red dot, and a Glock 45 w/ a Holosun 508T-V2 at about 20-22 yards:
Stribog, 15 shot groups:
Accurate No. 7 – 1 hole inside of an inch with a couple flyers making a 1.75″ total group
Winchester 244 – 1 hole inside of an inch with a couple flyers making a 2″ total group
HP-38 – 1 hole inside of an inch with a couple flyers making a 2″ total group
CFE Pistol – 2″ group, kind of spread.
Glock, 10 shot groups (note, I’m a terrible pistol marksman and these groups should probably be laughed at, The Stribog was braced and rested on a bag. With the Glock, I was shooting off hand, standing up) :
HP-38 – 3″ group
Winchester 244 – 4″ group
CFE Pistol – 6″ group
Accurate No. 7 – 7 ” group
These loads are about as hot as I would load and are at the top end of the charts. I was trying to achieve the velocity required (1150 FPS) for proper expansion.
I would rank how these “feel” as far as felt recoil as such starting with most powerful feeling to least powerful:
Accurate No. 7
HP-38
Winchester 244
CFE Pistol
