Description

These are brand new copper jacketed FMJ BT bullets made by Magtech.  We’ve seen some really good groups with these but we’ve also seen some pretty wide swings in OAL.  This isn’t uncommon with a FMJ bullet but it can make loading a little more work if you’re trying to get perfect OALs.

I use these for 30-06 rounds. Found that when paired with 54.7gr of surplus WC852 powder lot #47289 in Federal or Lake City cases, it shoots 1″ groups from my M1 Garand. Great bullet for everyday shooting.

Using these as a cheaper alternative for the 300BLK. Mainly loading these with the Accurate No. 11FS (tried 14.0 – 16.5gr). I’ve also tried Accurate# 9 (12.8 – 13.8gr), this powder feels a little “snappy.” Also tried Accurate 1680 (18.5 – 19.5). The 1680 I mainly use in the subsonic loads. I still have more testing to do, but for now I’ll probably stay with the AA#11 for the 147gr bullets. Now, the length of these bullets vary quit a bit, therefore I go through all of them and put them in a short and long pile. It just makes it easier for me. I’ve had this problem with all Magtech bullets… For plinking these will do for now.

MikeD claims to reload. The seating die ensures that all cartridges are the same length. Small variation in bullet length have nothing to do with cartridge length. I think MikeD is full of something.

@Russell I think your full of yourself. What Mike D said is correct, the length of the bullet affects seating depth and therefore the pressure and velocity of any given charge I am seeing a few thousandths difference in bullet length, easily accounted for but you do have to account for it as you get closer to max charge, which from his load data he does.
All in All the bullets look good and the price is great so its worth taking the time to do it right and do it safe.

Shooting these out of a standard M1A. Very pleased with these for banging steel plates out to 400 yards. Have not put on paper yet. I just seat them to the cannelure.

  8. Brad K. (verified owner)

Great bullet. Better fit within the cannelure than H150 grain bullet for 300BO. Have loaded thousands for steel challenges using H110/296, CFEBLK and A1680.

MikeD, thanks for your very helpful review. I am ordering these bullets for plinking as well. Good choice segregating your bullets by length. This helps consistency in COAL if crimping. At these prices, you gotta stock up by the 1K or more. Segregating them is better.
