Description

These are great cases for competitive shooters and those who don’t pick up their range brass.  I’ve used these cases for the last 6-7 years almost exclusively for competitions.  Aluminum cases do not stretch much before they split so you have to bell the case mouth the absolute minimum amount to get the bullet in there.  Also, they are a bit thicker than brass cases so you can’t load 147s unless you have a gun that allows you to seat them very long.  You will be stuck with 115 or 124 grain bullets if you load these for short throat guns.

Manufactured by Vista Outdoors, these demilled aluminum cases came from loaded ammunition and have never been fired. You will get cases marked FC, Blazer, CCI, or Speer.  They are essentially brand new cases but may have a dull shine or minor dings and dents from the bullet pulling process. These are aluminum, so they have a duller finish than brass. Like with all new cases, it is recommended that you resize them before loading to ensure that you have consistent tension. This is especially true with pulled cases as sometimes the case mouth can get dinged a little and it may be hard to seat a bullet without sizing. Sizing can be accomplished by removing the decapping pin from your resizing die.

As is the case with all demilled products, you may find a few mixed headstamps.  Federal Cartridge also makes a Berdan primed version of this case that is easily identified by two flash holes in the base of the case.  However, as far as we can tell, these are all Boxer primed.

*Demilled primed brass has been previously loaded.  We do our best to make sure that all powder has been removed from these cases before shipping them to you.  However, some powder may remain.  You will want to check your cases for residual powder before loading them.  If you see that you got some with powder stuck in them, just make sure you either clean it out with a q-tip or use lighter loads.  Also, some of these cases have some tar sealant in them so you may get some with the sealant in the mouths.  Lastly, we found a few with little mouth dings.  We will try to send enough extras to make up for any that have mouth dings and are unloadable.  Even the ones that aren’t loadable, you can recover the primers with a decapper.

NOTE: These must ship UPS ground. The price includes shipping within the lower 48 states.  If you are outside of the lower 48 please contact us for additional shipping rates.

I bought 2000 of these awhile ago. I loaded them with 2 different loads, and have been using them for practice and IDPA. They ran thru my press like butter, I liked them so much I bought 2000 more.

I usually do not like leaving bad reviews, but I just feel like I have to let others know about what you may be getting.
I’m guessing the reason they were demilled was because of a powder degradation issue. About 85-90% of them had significant amount of power stuck in the cases that has to be broke up with a screwdriver and dumped out. Some of them are brown on the inside where the powder looks to have decomposed. Hopefully the primers are still ok.
They came in 500 count bags ( bought 2000 in total). I did not count to see if there was that many. I have went through and sorted them all, and out of each bag, quite a few were not useable due to badly damaged case mouths. Either badly dented or cracked. A few had bad gouges on the side of the cases.
I had around 120 that were not usable. There could be a few more I just over looked.
Also, all the ones that have the tar still in them, I found the primers were stamped CF. Some looking online found they are the “clean fire” primers which are lead free and have a limited shelf life. So I have segregated them and will be shooting them first as I do not know how old they already are.
As I started sorting I got about halfway through the first bag and I started doubting my decision to buy them and contemplated trying to return the 3 bags I did not open. I decided to keep them and just push through.
It took me several hours over several days to sort, inspect and clean the cases.
Out of 2k, I had around 120 not usable from damage, however I was able to save the primers from them to reuse. I then had about 200 of the clean fire primed cases. I am shooting them first and so far they have all went bang. Hopefully they continue to do so.
In the end, I would not buy any more unless the price was only a couple cents above what a primer costs. Otherwise I would rather buy primers and once fired brass. I have shot probably 2-3 thousand of factory loaded blazer and federal aluminum cased ammo over the years with zero issues.
However the amount of work to get these ready to load was more than once fired brass.
I know the description said a little powder might still be in the cases, but from 2k, I had probably enough powder to load 10 or so rounds (I did not and tossed the powder in the yard). And I know it said some cases might have damage, but I was not expecting 120+ (out of 2000)

With primed cases we always send out quite a few extras. I’m not sure it was a full 120 extra that you got but you should have gotten between 50-70 extras for an order of 2000. That said, I’ve personally loaded tens of thousands of these and did not encounter nearly as many issues as you’ve expressed here. Remember folks, what’s usable for some may be completely junk to someone else. I personally don’t clean the powder or tar sealant out and I just load them and shoot them at matches. I MUCH prefer the aluminum cases because they give me the best SDs and they load so smoothly and are so much lighter than brass. That and they are not that much more than the cost of primers nowadays. Keep in mind that this price includes shipping. You would have a hard time getting primers and once fired cases shipped to you for this price.

While I had damaged, split cases, in the first batch of 1k, I have yet to find any in the batches that followed, after 4k loaded. Okay, maybe a couple.

Just finished sorting the 1,000 (1,056) cases I bought on Jan 29th. RMR sent me a total of 1,056 of which 90 were damaged (case mouth split or rolled over) bad enough I will not use in my firearm, leaving me with 966 useable cases. There were a few i tried to resize, but it had no effect on the mouth. I got 2-500pcs bags as well as an additional 25 for free. It took a couple of hours to remove the powder/resin combo from inside many of the cases, but I did not count how many were like that. All in all I’m not upset about my purchase, but I will not be buying these again. I love RMR, so they will continue to get my business, but these cases are too much of a hassle for me. Lastly, I do plan on removing the primers from the 90 damaged cases to reuse them, but I have not made it that far.
